Professional AI Voiceover From €5 a Month With ElevenLabs

In short

  • ElevenLabs Starter costs $6 a month, or $5 a month on yearly billing — about €4.50–5.40 before VAT.
  • You get 30,000 credits a month (roughly 30 minutes of speech), a commercial license and instant voice cloning.
  • Four short ad voiceovers a month from a freelancer can easily cost €200; with ElevenLabs it’s about €5.

You need a voice for a 30-second ad. The old way: find a voice actor, send a script, wait two days, pay, ask for one change, wait again. The new way: paste the script, pick a voice, download the file. Two minutes.

How much? Around €5 a month. That’s the ElevenLabs Starter plan, and for small businesses that make ads, product videos and reels, it’s one of the best deals in AI right now.

What you get, and for how much

ElevenLabs is the best-known AI voice company: text to speech, voice cloning, dubbing, sound effects. The prices below come straight from its pricing page (they exclude taxes, so VAT comes on top in the EU):

  • Free — $0. 10,000 credits a month (about 10 minutes of speech). No commercial license. Good for testing, not for ads.
  • Starter — $6 a month, or $5 a month billed yearly ($60 a year). 30,000 credits a month, commercial license, instant voice cloning, 20 Studio projects, dubbing. Right now there’s a promo: the first month is $1 until November 1.
  • Creator — $22 a month ($11 for the first month). 121,000 credits and professional voice cloning, if you outgrow Starter.

How do credits work? On the Multilingual v2 model, 1 character of text = 1 credit. A 30-second ad script is about 75 words, roughly 450 characters. So 30,000 credits cover more than 60 generations of that size a month. Unused credits on paid plans roll over for up to two months.

Your first voiceover in 15 minutes

  1. Write the script for the ear, not the eye. Short sentences. Numbers as words where it matters (“twenty percent”, not “20%”). Read it aloud once.
  2. Create an account at elevenlabs.io and test on Free first. Try 3–4 voices from the library with your real script.
  3. Upgrade to Starter when you’re ready to publish. The commercial license is what makes it legal to use in ads.
  4. Open Text to Speech, paste the script, pick the voice and model. Eleven v3 supports 70+ languages and is the expressive one; Multilingual v2 is the stable choice for longer reads.
  5. Tune the delivery. Adjust stability and style, add punctuation for pauses. Generate 2–3 takes and keep the best.
  6. Download and drop it into your editor — CapCut, Canva, Premiere, whatever you use. Add music under it.
  7. Optional: clone your own voice with instant voice cloning, so all your videos sound like you. Only clone voices you have the right to use.

Where it pays off

  • Social ads and reels. A new voiceover for every product, every week.
  • Product and tutorial videos. Update a price, regenerate one line — no new studio session.
  • Multiple languages. One script, several markets, same brand voice.
  • Phone menus and on-hold messages. Professional sound for the price of a coffee.

Do the math

Do the math: voice actor rates vary a lot, so here’s my assumption — €50 for a short ad read from a freelancer, 4 ads a month = €200 a month, €2,400 a year. ElevenLabs Starter: $6 a month = about €5.36 a month, €64.33 a year on monthly billing — or $60 a year = about €53.61 on yearly billing (ECB rate of October 23, 2026: 1 € = 1.1193 $; VAT extra). That’s roughly 97% less, with enough credits for many more than four ads.

The honest weak spots

  • Free is not for business. No commercial license on Free. Don’t publish ads made on it.
  • Retakes cost credits. Every generation is charged; some regenerations are free only if the text and settings don’t change. Fiddling burns your 30,000 fast.
  • It’s not a top actor. For a big brand campaign with real emotion and direction, a skilled human still wins.
  • Test your language. Quality differs between languages and voices. Listen before you publish, especially with names and numbers.
  • Cloning has rules. Clone only your own voice or one you have written permission for.

Alternatives

  • Built-in AI voices in CapCut or Canva — fine for quick social clips, fewer voices and less control.
  • OpenAI or Google text-to-speech via API — cheap per character if you can work with an API or Make.
  • A freelancer for the hero ad only — mix: human voice for the main campaign, AI for the weekly content.

Ivan’s Take

Five euros a month for a professional voice with a commercial license — this is unique, and every small business making video should have it. I’d test on Free, then move to Starter the day the first ad goes live. Keep a human for the one big campaign; let AI voice everything else.
